A nice piece by Tim Hughes appeared in the Courier Mail today on the Howard government's policy regarding drought-affected farmers. He deals with several issues that have been on my mind over the last few days (although I'm sure he discusses them much more eloquently than I could), as well as raising many more. The main problem seems to be that critical rational judgement is taking a backseat in the government's decisions on these matters and this isn't going to help things in the long run.
